We list all of our available apartments here on our website.  We usually list on Craigslist as well. When an apartment is no longer available it will be indicated on the listing.  When we list an apartment because of the current housing situation we get a lots of responses.  While we try to respond to everyone as quickly as possible sometimes it can take a couple days.  The fastest way to receive a response is contacting us through email.

Many of our apartments here at Chapman Street Properties LLC are subsidized through the MRVP program.  We are hands-on owners meaning you talk to us and not a property management company.  We seek to offer a home for each of our tenants that is affordable and fulfills fundamental necessities.    

 

What exactly is MRVP? 

Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program - is a state subsidized rental voucher program.  It is very similar to the federal program, Section 8; however, you can only use this voucher in the state of Massachusetts.  There are 2 types of MRVP vouchers: mobile and project based.  A mobile voucher is assigned to an individual and will transfer with them to any apartment.  A project based voucher is only for a particular apartment and does not go with the tenant when they move.  

 

We have 18 project based apartments ranging from 1-4 bedrooms. To qualify your income must fall within a middle or low income range. You only pay rent based on approximately 30% of your total household income.  Please be aware that for these units your family size determines on the number of bedrooms you are able to rent.  For example, a husband and wife, partners or 2 friends would not qualify for a 2 bedroom apartment, they would only qualify for a 1 bedroom. Parents or caregivers who have at least 1 child would be eligible for 2 or more bedrooms based on the number of children as well as the ages and genders.

 

One important thing to note is if you are applying for a project based MRVP unit and you already have Section 8, you will forfeit your Section 8 voucher.

Do you have any units that are regular market rate apartments? 

Yes, we have several market rate apartments.  In order to be eligible for these apartments you must have a monthly income of 3 times the amount of rent.  That means if you are looking at an apartment that is $950 per month your household income must be $2,850 or more.  (This is not the case with section 8 or if you have other housing benefits.)

 

What are your requirements for renting from Chapman Street Properties LLC?  

We will verify the info you have filled out on your application as well as pull background and credit reports for anyone residing in the apartment.  Typically we like to see someone with a credit score of 600 or above, regular payments being made on outstanding debts and a solid rental history with no previous evictions.

 

A security deposit equal to one month's rent and a last month is required for all apartments and must be paid at the lease signing.
